Joining our 5* Tudor House holiday cottage, we are very excited to be adding two new holiday rental properties to Halswell Park: Tower House and Parkhead.
TOWER HOUSE
Situated in the Stable Courtyard, at the centre of all the parkland’s walks, lakes, and views, is Tower House. Built in the seventeenth century as a grand entrance and stables for the the newly rebuilt Halswell House, the two battlemented towers of Tower House are part of this old stable building. With two towers facing the courtyard, and three grand gothic windows facing the parkland, for hundreds of years this was a stable, before changing use into ta dwelling. It is now a striking one-bedroom open-plan cottage. Stunning stone gothic windows let light flood into the open-plan space, with a gothic door leading out to a private terrace, garden, with the estate parkland beyond. The eighteenth-century lakes and pleasure gardens of Mill Wood are few minutes walk away down the newly replanted historic avenue of trees.

The entrance with the bedroom mezzanine floor above. The bedroom has a large shower room, a separate loo, and a large walk-in wardrobe.

The shower room is situated within one of the stone towers which were built in 1690 as a grand entrance to the estate’s inner courtyard. The original seventeenth-century leaded and coloured glass window is above.

The kitchen at Tower is partly tucked away into the stone tower and also connected to the large reception room.
PARKHEAD is a three bedroom cottage at the right of the Old Farmhouse structure, a grand estate agricultural building. This eighteenth-century ornamental farm, or Ferme Ornée, as they are named, sits at the edge of the Halswell courtyard which includes the seventeenth-century Dovecote, seventeenth-century Stable block and the eighteenth-century Riding School. Parkhead is at the outer edge of this area and benefits from seclusion and direct access from its garden out to the expansive historic parkland, with its veteran oak and chestnut trees. Parkhead is not quite ready yet so we have used the skills of Google’s Gemeni to add some flowers to the exteriors! But by the mid-summer of 2026 we expect these photos not to do it justice!

Parkhead is the right side of the Ferme Ornée building, divided by a long wing in the centre so it is far removed from the Old Farmhouse part of the building, which is similar in size and inhabited by a member the owner’s family.

The kitchen at Parkhead is open plan leading into the living room, where the double doors take you out to a private and secluded terrace garden. The views through the ancient parkland are stunning, as are the walks to the thatched Deer Hut, and up to Robin Hood’s Hut.
